Widgets Menu

❓What is the Widgets Menu?

Widgets allow you to run AI directly on your desktop. They are also highly customizable and more features are planned around them. You can either start by creating your own Widget Space (you can have multiple Widgets in a Space) or by clicking on "Add Example".

Don't Forget

An Active Widget Space means that the widget space is initialised automatically when you start AI Pals Engine!

⭐ 3 Things You Need to Know

  1. Use the top menu in the same way as the Chat Menu. The only difference is that it now applies to the first widget in the Widget Space now!
  2. There are different widget types and you have to choose one. This determines the type of graphical assets that you can use. This may change in the future, but for now, you have to choose wisely.
  3. The different Widget Types:
    1. 2D Engine Widget - Uses Phaser as 2D Game Engine. This is the only Widget Type that can use Spritesheet and Shader Assets.
    2. 3D Engine Widget - Uses Three.js as 3D Game Engine. This is the only Widget Type that can use 3D VRM Assets.
    3. Lightweight Widget - Use this if you want a simple widget, with or without images. It also uses almost no system resources.
    4. Website Widget - Use this if you want to render a full website (you have to set up a website address).
Get Started
  • AI Assistant: A good start for a permanent Desktop Widget → Add the Advanced 3 - RSS Example Widget with the chat-general Char in combination with Medium Sized Text AI Model (Add one using Models → Add Recommended)
  • AI RP: Want a little bit more randomness in your RP? Advanced 5 - Dice Adventure → adds a simple Dice Roll
  • No AI: You want to have quick notes on your Desktop or a cute Pal on your Desktop? Try No AI 2 - Markdown Panel and/or No AI 2 - Cat (you can adjust your Pal's Color to match your Desktop Theme via Widget Config → Additional Settings → Ambient Color)
important

If something goes wrong during startup you might want to reset the Active Widget Space → Run ResetActiveSpace.bat (you can find it in the same folder as the AI Pals Engine executable).

🧭 Next Step

If you Set a widget space, get familiar with the → Widget Settings and Widget Configuration

Don't Forget
  • Buttons and labels marked with a blue '?' usually provide more detailed information via a tooltip when you hover over them.
  • Under Plugins you can find additional mechanisms like a global hotkey to hide/unhide the widget or to copy text directly to it!
